John FraserAmerican artist, born 1952

Born in Chicago in 1952, John Fraser received his undergraduate degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago in 1975 and his master of fine arts degree from Northern Illinois University in 1989. Fraser has taught extensively as an adjunct professor at Northern Illinois University and at Dominican University and as a visiting artist at colleges and universities throughout the United States. The artist began exhibiting in the 1980s, and his work has been featured in numerous solo and groups exhibitions throughout the Midwest and Northeast as well as institutions abroad. Fraser has received grants and fellowships from the Illinois Arts Council and the Robert M. MacNamara Foundation, and his work is included in the collections of the Arkansas Art Center, Brigham Young University Museum of Art, and the Cincinnati Art Museum, among others.
