Jane Byrd McCall WhiteheadAmerican potter, 1858–1955

Jane Byrd McCall Whitehead founded with her husband, Ralph Whitehead, the American Arts and Crafts Community, “Byrdcliffe,” located in Woodstock, New York (1902-1929). Both were very much influenced by the writings of John Ruskin and the arts and crafts aesthetic of William Morris. Her early life included extensive periods living in the United Kingdom and Europe.
