Edda RenoufAmerican painter, born 1943

Edda Renouf, an American born in Mexico City, moved to the United States to study at Sarah Lawrence College in the early 1960s. She settled in New York City in 1968 to pursue her MFA at Columbia University, studying under the abstract expressionist painter, Richard Pousette-Dart. Renouf lived and worked in New York City until 1991, when she moved France. Her first solo exhibition was in 1972 at a prestigious gallery in Paris, Yvon Lambert, and she has continued to exhibit throughout Europe. Renouf has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, and her work is included in the permanent collections of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York, among others.
