L. Jean LiberteAmerican painter, 1896–1965
Liberte graduated from Cooper Union in New York and then studied with Kenneth Hayes Miller at the Art Students League. He also studied at the National Academy of Design and the Beaux-Arts Institute. He exhibited throughout the United States, and his work is in major museum collections including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Liberte taught at the Art Students League for 20 years.
