Thomas Willoughby NasonAmerican printmaker, 1889–1971
Born in Massachusetts, Thomas Nason chronicled rural New England in his wood engravings. He attended Tufts University but was largely self-taught at as printmaker. His work began to attract attention when he won the best print awards in 1929 and 1930 from the Philadelphia Print Club. Nason was a member of the National Institute of Arts and Letters in New York City; the Society of American Etchers; the Salmagundi Club in New York City; the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts; the Chicago Society of Etchers; the Lyme Art Association in Lyme, Connecticut; the Philadelphia Society of Etchers; and an Associate Member of the National Academy of Design.
