George Alfred WilliamsAmerican painter, illustrator, and author, 1875–1932

George Alfred Williams was born in Newark, New Jersey. He began as a self taught watercolor artist and his work gained him entrance into the American Watercolor Society. He later studied under Douglas Volk and Kenyon Cox at the Art Students League of New York. He illustrated a number of books such as The Christmas Carol, The Boy's Book of Pirates and the Great Sea Rovers, Ten Boys from Dickens, Book of Indian Braves, and Ten American Girls from History. Some of his works were collected at the Newark Library and the Chicago Art Museum during his lifetime.
