Wilmont Emerton Heitland

American painter, 1893–1969

BiographyBorn in Wisconsin, Heitland studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Academie Colarossi in Paris, and the Art Students League in New York. His illustrations—primarily in vivid watercolor—appeared in many publications, including Cosmopolitan, McCall’s, Woman’s Home Companion, and Delineator. Heitland often illustrated scenes of the tension-filled romances of popular contemporary fiction.
