Philip L. Hoyt

Born in Vermont, Philip Hoyt studied with Howard Pyle at Drexel Institute in 1899-1889 and at Pyle's Chadds Ford summer session in 1899. From 1900-1903, Hoyt was a student at Pyle's Wilmington studio school. According to Frank Schoonover's notes, Hoyt later left the illustration field and became a building contractor.
