W. Hamilton GibsonAmerican illustrator and author, 1850–1896

Born in Connecticut, Gibson studied at the Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. He combined his interests in natural history and illustration, becoming a leader author and illustrator of articles on plants and insects, many of which were published in Harper's Monthly magazine. He also wrote and illustrated several books in the 1880s and 1890s.
