Warren BrandtAmerican, 1918–2002

Warren Brandt studied first at Pratt Institute in and the Art Students League in New York and served for five years as an official portraitist during World War II. Following his time in the service, Brandy enrolled at Washington University in St. Louis where he was taught by Philip Guston and Max Beckmann. In 1960, he married artist and art dealer, Grace Borgenicht, and showed extensively in New York. Brandt taught throughout the east coast, and his vibrant, representational paintings are in the collections of the Chrysler Museum, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, among others.
