Louis TrinkausAmerican artist, 1910–1986

Louis Trinkaus was a self-taught artist who taught English at William Penn High School in New Castle, Delaware. He exhibited locally in the late 1960s and 1970s at Hardcastle Gallery in Wilmington, the Warehouse Gallery in Arden, Williamson School of Mechanical Trades in Middletown, and the University of Delaware's John M. Clayton Hall. Trinkaus is best known for his collages, which combine his interest in 19th-century ephemera—magazines, postcards, and scrapbooks—with surreal images.
