Edward Henry Potthast

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Edward Potthast was an impressionist painter and illustrator. He studied at the McMicken School in Cincinnati and began his career as an artist working for a lithography company. After moving to New York in 1895 he became best known for his paintings of daily-life and leasure, particularly Long Island beach scenes.
