Ben Solowey

Born in Poland, Solowey came to the United States with his family at age 14. They settled in Philadelphia, where Solowey worked at a lithography company before commencing art study at the Fleisher Art Memorial and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He found success producing portraits of stage actors in the 1920s. In 1942 Solowey moved to Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where he painted landscapes and still lifes and renovated his 18th-century farmhouse.
