Stow WengenrothAmerican printmaker and illustrator, 1906–1978

Wengenroth was one of the most skilled American lithographers of the 20th century. Born in Brooklyn, he studied at the Art Students League with George Bridgman and John Fabian Carlson from 1923 through 1927, and then with Wayman Adams at the Grand Central School of Art. He is best known for his detailed, naturalistic depictions of New York and New England, especially Maine. A comprehensive collection of his prints and dry brush watercolor paintings is housed at Brown University Library.
