Paul LandacreAmerican printmaker, 1893–1963

Landacre was a renowned printmaker especially known his wood engravings. Landacre attended Ohio State University. An illness encouraged him to move to California. He settled in Los Angeles where he attended the Otis Art Institute and began a career as a commercial artist. He taught himself relief printing and spent time among the circle of artists and photographers that gathered at Jake Zeitlin's antiquarian bookshop. Zeitlin introduced him to Carl Zigrosser who promoted Landacre's work on the East Coast.
