Eleanor C. NicholsAmerican silversmith, 1903–1988
Eleanor C. Nichols was born in Madison, Wisconsin and received her Bachelor of Science degree in applied arts from the University of Wisconsin. In 1927 she moved to Delaware where she taught silversmithing and jewelry at local schools and at the Delaware Art Museum for over 40 years. She is well known for her skill in metalwork, having created the bronze medallions on the doors of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Bellefonte, Delaware and a plaque for the visit of Prince Bertil of Sweden at the 325th anniversary of the landing of the Swedish colonists in Delaware. Nichols served as president of the state chapter of the National League of Pen Women and was recognized with awards and purchase prizes for her work in metal.
