Ellsworth Kelly

Ellsworth Kelly was one of the most significant abstract artists of the second half of the 20th century. Kelly was born in Newburgh, New York; studied painting at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston; and spent time abroad in Paris. Responding to the legacy of Abstract Expressionism, Kelly is most closely associated with the simplicity of form of hard-edge painting and Minimalism.
