Frances Tipton Hunter

American artist and illustrator, 1896–1957
BiographyAfter her art education in Philadelphia (which included study with Thornton Oakley at the Philadelphia Museum School of Industrial Art), Pennsylvania-native Hunter worked as an illustrator from the early 1920s to the late 1950s, often focusing on portrayals of children. From 1936 to 1941, she produced 15 covers for The Saturday Evening Post. Hunter was also well known for her commercial product illustrations, including the cover of a 1934 Hershey's chocolate recipe book.
