Kerr EbyCanadian painter, printmaker, 1890–1946

Eby was an illustrator and graphic artist best known for his depictions of soldiers in World War I. Eby was born in Japan to Canadian parents. He studied art at the Pratt Institute and the Art Students League in New York. He enlisted in the Army in 1917, serving as an ambulance driver and a camoufleur. During the war and for years after it, he produced haunting images of soldiers at the front.
