Bonnie MacLeanAmerican artist, born 1939

Born in Philadelphia, MacLean graduated from the Pennsylvania State University. She moved to New York City where she worked and studied at the Pratt Institute, before moving to San Francisco in 1964. She met and married concert promoter Bill Graham. After Graham parted ways with designer Wes Wilson, MacLean took over poster design and promotional art for the Fillmore Auditorium. She produced a steady stream of graphically innovative work, informed by the psychedelic imagery of Wilson. She continued her studies at the San Francisco Art Institute, the San Francisco Academy of Art, and the California College of Arts and Crafts, Mexican Extension. In 1972 she returned to the East Coast and settled in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
