Ralph Crosby SmithAmerican illustrator, 1907–1962
Ralph Crosby Smith had his initial art training in his home state at the University of California and then studied at the Wilmington Academy of Art. During his career, he worked from studios first in New Jersey and then in Connecticut. In the 1930s and 1940s, his work appeared in Western pulp magazines, and in the 1950s he had many commissions from Outdoor Life for covers and story illustrations centering on hunting, fishing, and safari scenes.
