Man Ray (Emmanuel Radnitzky) was a photographer, painter, and filmmaker involved in the Dada and Surrealist movements. He is best known for his experiments in photography, including his cameraless pictures called rayographs. Born in Philadelphia in 1890, the artist was raised in New York City and moved to Paris in 1921. Man Ray lived in Los Angeles during the Second World War, returning to Paris in 1946 where he lived until his death in 1976.
