Oppi UntrachtAmerican enamel artist, 1922–2008

Oppi Untracht is known for his career as a metalsmith. He received a MFA degree from Columbia University and studied in India and Nepal on Fulbright grants. He wrote Metal Techniques for Craftsmen (1968), which is still used to this day in smithing education. Untracht specialized in jewelry and was an expert on Indian jewelry-making techniques. The majority of his work is in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
