Ernest David Roth

Born in Germany, Roth moved to the United States with his family at age five. He studied at the National Academy of Design and at the New York School of Art and traveled to Europe to deepen his understanding of etching. Roth became a master printer as well as an accomplished printmaker and painter. He printed editions for other artists including John Sloan, for whom he printed about 3,580 etchings from 107 plates.
