Armin LandeckAmerican painter and printmaker, 1905–1984

Trained as an architect, Landeck specialized in depictions of urban architecture. Landeck graduated with a degree in architecture from Columbia University and then traveled with his new wife through Europe, where he began printmaking. They returned after the stock market crash of 1929, and he was unable to find work as an architect, so he continued printmaking, producing etchings, aquatints, drypoints, and lithographs, as well as works that combine these media. In the early 1940s, he studied briefly with Stanley William Hayter and developed an interest in copper engraving.
