American illustrator, 1883-1960
BiographyGriswold Tyng was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts. He graduated from the Massachusetts School of Art. He studied with Joseph DeCamp and is known to have attended Howard Pyle's Monday night criticism classes.

During the first and second World War, Tyng was an official United States Army artist. From 1947 to 1960 he worked as a consultant and illustrator for the Boston City Planning Board.
