Jessie McDermott WalcottAmerican illustrator, 1857–1907

Jessie McDermott Walcott was born in 1857 in Washington, DC and died in New Hampshire in 1907. She illustrated for the children's magazine St. Nicholas, and created many illustrations for young readers' books. In November, 1893, she was featured in the article Young American Women in Art, in Leslie's Popular Monthly, along with -- for example -- Mary Cassatt, Alice Barber Stephens, and Rosina Sherwood.
