William Dean FausettAmerican painter, 1913–1998
Born in Utah, Faussett moved to New York City at 16 when he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Art Students League. He studied with Kenneth Hayes Miller, and continued his education at Brigham Young University, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, and Eastern Illinois University. Faussett taught at the Henry Street Settlement House and worked for the WPA in the 1930s. He painted murals and portraits of famous people across the United States. After World War II he settled in a historic home in Dorset, Vermont, where he helped found the Kent Neighborhood Historic District.
