Yvonne Jacquette was born in Pittsburgh in 1934. She grew up in Stamford, Connecticut and attended the Rhode Island School of Design. In 1955, Jacquette moved to New York City, an urban environment that has served as constant inspiration for her paintings. The artist's fascination with aerial views of the landscape began in the late 1960s and since then she has rendered views of topographies across the United States and around the world. Jacquette began exhibiting in New York in the early 1960s, and her work has been the subject of solo exhibitions and been included in numerous group shows. A retrospective exhibition, titled Aerial Muse: The Art of Yvonne Jacquette, traveled throughout the United States in 2002. The artist's work is in the public collections of the Brooklyn Museum, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, among others.
