Gabor F. PeterdiAmerican painter, printmaker, 1915–2001

Gabor Peterdi was a painter and printmaker who emigrated to the United States in 1939. While in Europe, he studied in Rome on a Prix de Rome scholarship and later lived in Paris while studying engraving with William Stanley Hayter. After settling in New York, Peterdi taught at the Brooklyn Museum School of Art, Hunter College, and at Yale School of Art from 1960–1987. The artist was represented for 25 years by the Grace Borgenicht Gallery in Manhattan, and his work is included in numerous private and public collections throughout the world.
