Dutch artist Adriaan Lubbers is best known for his angular, modern images of New York from the 1920s. Lubbers first came to the city in 1916 and stayed through 1919. He returned from 1926 to 1928. Though he lived in New York for only six years total, it remained the focus of his artistic output when he returned to Paris and the Netherlands. Lubbers exhibited at the Whitney Studio Club and the Society of Independent Artists.
