Patricia OyamaAmerican potter, born 1945

Patricia Oyama is a potter and ceramicist based in Santa Cruz, California known for her nature-inspired works. During her childhood, she and her family were removed from Los Angeles to the Heart Mountain internment camp following the Pearl Harbor bombing. During this time Oyama met the ceramic artist Daniel Rhodes, who helped establish a ceramics factory and pottery workshop at the camp. As an adult, Oyama trained under the Japanese potter Tsunzeo Arao in Kyoto and with Rhodes at Alfred University.
