William TravisAmerican artist, 1943–2021

Travis is best known for his sculptures, large-scale welded forms on view in public spaces throughout New Jersey and Philadelphia. His undergraduate degree is from the University of the Arts, and he received a master of fine arts degree from Tyler School of Art and Architecture where he studied with John L. Wade Sr. and Bradley Smith. Travis taught at Rowan University from 1971 until his retirement in 1997. In addition to teaching, he was involved with the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Community Programs and Urban Outreach and Mural Arts Philadelphia.
