Randall DaveyAmerican painter, 1887–1964

A good friend of John Sloan and an important member of the Santa Fe arts community, Randall Davey painted and produced prints in nearly every genre, though he may be best known for scenes of horse races and polo matches. Davey was born in East Orange, New Jersey, and moved to New York to study at the New York School of Art with Robert Henri. He and Henri became friends and traveled through Europe together in 1910. With encouragement from Henri, in 1919, he traveled to Santa Fe with Sloan. Davey and his wife settled there, purchasing an old mill to use as a studio.
