Label TextIn 1896 New York illustrator Henry Watson produced twelve monthly posters for Recreation a sporting and outdoor activity magazine. Each poster depicted a different outdoor sport but all featured the same tall thin sportsman accompanied by his intrepid dachshund. All the posters were created in a silhouette style with a very proto-deco masthead. The posters were available from the magazine's offices for 5 cents apiece. Watson also was an editor for Field & Stream - his specialty was hunting pictures.
