Label TextThis painting is one in a series begun in 1955, distinguished by the inclusion of the French words "je t'aime" ("I love you") on the surface of the paintings. The image of a white swan's wing in the center of the canvas makes reference to the evocative writings of the French Symbolist poet, Stéphane Mallarmé, whose work the artist admired.
