Label TextThis story is a fictionalized version of the adventures of Isabelle Boyd (1844-1900), a Confederate spy who carried information, supplies, and weapons to Southern forces in Union territory. Concealing her identity even from a fellow Confederate, she pretends to be a farm girl knitting on a hillside. She falls in love with the young soldier who speaks with her but must continue her secret journey north.
