Label TextThis drawing appears to be a study of the Head of Menelaus, a marble bust in the Vatican Museums. Many plaster casts and marble copies of this sculpture exist in European and American art schools and museums. In the drawing, the artist has brought motion and vitality to this sculpture of a Greek hero. Menelaus was the king of Sparta who went to war with Troy over the seduction of his wife Helen by Paris.
