Label TextIn 1930, Vagis sculpted the head of John Sloan while Sloan painted him at work. Both works were well received: casts of Vagis' sculpture are in the Art Students League, the Toledo Museum of Art, and the Delaware Art Museum, and John Sloan won the Carroll H. Beck prize at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts for his painting of Vagis in 1931.Augustus Saint-Gaudens
