Label TextPenrhyn Stanlaws was born in Scotland as Stanley Adamson. The younger brother of illustrator Sydney Adamson, he changed his name to avoid confusion between them.
He was a cover artist for many magazines, including The Saturday Evening Post, Collier's, and Life, Judge. His models were often early movie stars such as Mabel Normand; his Hollywood associations led him to direct a number of films in the early 1920s.
