Label TextAccording to Helen Farr Sloan and Rowland Elzea, the color notes on this sketch indicate the original colors in the painting, now in the collection of the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College. In preparation for a retrospective exhibition in 1945 and again in 1951, Sloan reworked the canvas.
