Label TextOriginally hired to the Public Works of Art Project as an assistant to framer and fellow artist Francis Coll, David Reyam's detailed sketches of Wilmington landmarks attracted the attention of his supervisors. Administrator John Schoonover's support of Reyam's work led to Reyam's appointment as the supervisor of Federal Art Project's Index of American Design program in Delaware. Born David Mayer to a wealthy Jewish family in New York, the aritst reversed the spelling of his surname after his arrival in Wilmington around 1910.
