Label TextThe inscription on this drawing gives several possible names, including The American Painters Company, American Painters and Gravers, and Allied American Artists, for a "scheme for gallery—crowds come in to have portraits painted." While this concept seems to have been a joke, throughout his career Sloan experimented with several novel approaches to exhibiting and selling his work.
