Label TextIn 1894, The Inland Printer became the first magazine in America to change its cover every issue. All of their 1897 covers were created by J. C. Leyendecker, whose design suggests an Asian motif. From the stylized lettering above the central figure's head to the patterned medallions at the right and left of the title word Printer, this image marries Eastern references with Art Nouveau style. An 1898 article in Brush and Pencil: An Illustrated Magazine of the Arts Today noted the title for this cover was The Sun.
