Label TextA native of Binghamton, New York, William Ely Hill created comics and caricatures for the humor magazine Puck and various newspapers. These five subjects - four smiling and one apparently less than happy - may reflect the trend toward beauty contests for women that culminated in the first Miss American pageant of 1921.
