Label TextMathieson was a painter and etcher who lived and worked in Stirling, just northwest of Edinburgh. He focused on the Scottish landscape as is the case in this print of the Leith, the main body of water which flows through the city of Edinburgh. His soft focus style conveys a sense of the damp Scottish climate. (msf)
