Label TextNeysa McMein was known primarily for her images of serenely beautiful women on magazine covers. Here, her subject appeals for support of The United War Work Campaign, which combined several organizations, such as the YMCA, into one large drive charged with raising funds for the war in 1918. During the war, McMein traveled to the European front to entertain injured soldiers with drawing demonstrations. Like other women artists who served in various roles in World War I, along with all American women, McMein contributed her talents while being denied suffrage at home.
