Label TextHoughton was an illustrator of children’s books and loosely affiliated with the members of the Pre-Raphaelite circle. This image is a parody of the popular “Queen Anne” style of children’s clothing, which was often featured in the work of a contemporary of Houghton, Kate Greenaway. The image shows a young girl announcing to her alarmed playmates that the “Queen Anne” style is dead.
