Label TextThis print was made from a photograph taken by Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins, who orbited the Moon in the Command Module while Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin descended to the surface. Nesbitt highlights Collins’s extraordinary solitude in a composition that separates almost all of humankind into two distinct positions: a distant gleaming Earth, set within an infinite void of negative space, and the returning Lunar Module piloted by Aldrin and Armstrong.
