Label TextJoseph Hoffman, the designer of this piece, was a founding member of the Wiener Werkstätte, a consortium of artists who designed home furnishings and graphic arts. The work produced by the firm is credited as pioneering modern design and was influential on later styles including Bauhaus and Art Deco. This cover design is typical of the Werkstätte style incorporating Art Nouveau motifs such as the vine, flower and feather, with an abstract, linear style.
